SUSTAINABILITY AT CABARET VERRRT : REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE !

Since its first edition, Cabaret Vert has been committed to sustainability by applying circular economy principles. The goal : turn waste into resources and, above all, generate less waste.

 

Key actions :
  • Replace single-use cups with reusable ones

  • Cut down on plastic packaging

  • Fight food waste

  • Promote reuse through partnerships with local recycling centers

  • Sort and manage waste onsite to maximize recycling

  • Ban on distributing promotional goodies

Waste Management System :
  • 170 eco-designed sorting stations

  • 160 organic waste collection points

  • Onsite sorting center with volunteers and professional equipment

  • 200 volunteers for sorting and raising awareness

  • Used cooking oil collection at food stands

  • “IOP” team monitors litter to improve waste collection every year

CABARET VERT COMMITS TO REGENERATING LOCAL BIODIVERSITY

Biodiversity loss is a major global issue, with one million animal species at risk of extinction. With every edition, Cabaret Vert takes action to create a positive impact on the natural sites used during the festival (the Meuse riverbanks, Bayard Square, the Macérienne plain, and the campsites).​

Cabaret Vert takes place in a wooded area crossed by the Meuse River. Aware of its environmental responsibility, the festival works to minimize its footprint and preserve the surrounding natural ecosystem.

Throughout the year, care is taken to protect and restore the 40-hectare green space at the heart of Charleville-Mézières:

  • Reforestation of the campsite on the former Dauchy farm's market garden with 60 locally sourced trees

  • Maintaining biodiversity by restoring the permanent Cabaret Vert decorative signage as insect hotels

  • Leaving the site inactive for three-quarters of the year to allow nature to regenerate

 

In 2022, the festival also planted 65 meters of trees along the Meuse to further green this now iconic area !
